WebSummary AI is built to be private by design. This policy explains what the extension does — and does not — do with your data.

What we collect

WebSummary AI is designed to collect as little as possible. We do not collect:

• The content of the pages you read or summarize.
• Your browsing history or the URLs you visit.
• Personal identifiers such as your name, email, or account details (the extension does not require an account).

How your page content is handled

When you ask WebSummary AI to summarize a page or switch to distraction-free reading, the extension reads the content of the active tab so it can produce a summary or a clean reading view. This processing happens locally on your device. Page content is not transmitted to, stored on, or retained by our servers.

Permissions

The extension requests only the browser permissions it needs to function — such as access to the content of the active tab when you choose to summarize it. These permissions are used solely to deliver the features you request and for no other purpose.

Settings and preferences

Any settings you configure — such as custom summary prompts or the auto-summary toggle — are stored locally in your browser so your preferences persist between sessions. They are not uploaded to us.

Third-party services

WebSummary AI does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. If future features rely on an external service to process a request, that will be clearly disclosed and updated in this policy before the feature ships.

Children's privacy

WebSummary AI is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
